In brief: Brazil’s industrial production declines in monthly terms

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its figures for the country’s industrial production in July, showing a monthly drop in production of 0.2%. This marks the fourth consecutive month to see stagnant production levels or a monthly decrease. Meanwhile, production in July this year was up 0.2% on the same month last year, and the accumulated production for the 12 months through July 2025 was up 1.9% on the preceding 12-month period. Of the 25 product categories measured by the Ibge, 13 registered a monthly decline in production in July. The greatest decreases were seen in printing and recording equipment (-11.3%), other transport equipment (-5.3%), and maintenance, repairs, and installation of machines and equipment (-3.7%).
