HONDURAS: Zelaya takes control of energy crisis

When President Manuel Zelaya came to power a year ago, he set about trying to implement one of his main electoral promises - resolving what he described as an "energy emergency". One year later, with four directors of the state power company ENEE having since come and gone, Zelaya decided it was time to take matters into his own hands. In late February he became the director of ENEE and pledged to work six hours a day in the role to extend the service to more Hondurans and to clamp down on widespread tax evasion.
