PANAMA: Panamanian press against new civil code

Panamanian journalists marched on the streets of Ciudad de Panamá in early-March to protest against articles in the country's new civil code. They claim new laws regulating information will curb press freedom in the country. President Martí­n Torrijos promised he would "revise" the contentious items. In any case, the controversy overshadowed important changes in Panamanian laws.
