In brief: Uruguay’s inflation up in September

*Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released its consumer price index (IPC) for September, showing a monthly inflation rate of 0.42%, bringing the annual inflation rate to 4.25%. This compares to monthly deflation of -0.03% in August, when the annual rate was 4.20%. The categories with the highest monthly inflation rate in September were housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (+0.82%), food and non-alcoholic drinks (+0.63%), real estate, domestic appliances, and other home products (+1.07%), recreation, sport, and culture (+1.04%), and insurance and financial services (+0.65%). Categories to record monthly deflation included clothing and footwear (-0.12%) and transport (-0.60%).
