*Shareholders at Peru’s state oil company Petroperú have approved the appointment of a new board of directors led by the new company president,
Luis Alberto Canales Gálvez, who takes over from
Fidel Moreno Rodríguez. Petroperú has been in
a state of crisis for over a year, with the entire executive board resigning in September 2024 after calling on former president
Dina Boluarte (2022-2025) to either privatise the debt-ridden company or allow it to go bankrupt. Economy and Finance Minister
Denisse Miralles said that
“we firmly believe that Petroperú is a State asset that cannot go on generating costs” and called on the new board to make sure that the company
“supports itself with corporate efficiency and contributes to the national economy”.End of preview - This article contains approximately 121 words.
