URUGUAY | Budget contains tax increases. Uruguay’s senate approved the government’s five-year budget in general terms on 26 November and will now vote on the 650 individual articles contained within it, including tax increases. When presenting the budget to the senate finance and budget commission on 21 November, the economy and finance minister, Gabriel Oddone, said the government had “inherited a complex fiscal situation” and warned about the first signs of an economic slowdown and a labour market freeze.
