CUBA: Cuba's "grand fatherland" with Venezuela

Last month declarations from Cuban officials and President Hugo Chávez of Venezuela gave the impression that the governments of Cuba and Venezuela were in talks over a prospective union. While a little far-fetched, the prospect was still a cause for concern among Cuban dissident groups, who lamented the interference of Chávez in Cuban affairs.
