Mexico will play a key role in Western Hemisphere relations over the next few years. In terms of population, territory, and GDP, Mexico is one of the largest countries in the LAC region, after Brazil. However, unlike Brazil, Mexico also shares a long 3,145kms border with the United States. Through the nearshoring of manufacturing businesses it is closely integrated with the US economy. This makes both countries strategic partners, whether their politicians like it or not.
