In brief: Mexico’s inflation edges up in February

*Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for its consumer price index (INPC), which put monthly inflation in February at 0.50% and annual inflation at 4.02%, marginally above the central bank (Banxico)'s target range of 3% (+/- 1%). Both rates saw slight increases from the previous month - monthly inflation rose from 0.38% in January, and the annual rate rose from 3.79%. Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and fuel, increased 0.46% in monthly terms and 4.50% year-on-year in February, compared with a 0.60% monthly rise in January, when the annual core inflation rate stood at 4.52%.
