Unemployment edges up in February. Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) released its latest national employment survey (Enoe) on 27 March, showing that the unemployment rate in February 2026 stood at 2.6% of the economically active population - people over the age of 15 who are employed or seeking employment. This equates to around 1.6m people, up 76,000 compared with February 2025. The unemployment rate was up by 0.1 of a percentage point from February 2025, while the unemployment rate was similar to that registered in January 2026. In February, the informality rate stood at 54.8%, up from 54.5% in February 2025.
