In brief: Peru leads regional growth in non-traditional exports

*Peru’s central bank (BCRP) has announced that Peru saw greater growth in non-traditional exports than Latin America’s other leading economies over the past five years. According to BCRP figures cited by state news agency Andina, Peru saw average annual growth in non-traditional exports of 9.1% over the five years to February 2026. This exceeded the performance of Colombia (+8.8%), Mexico (+8.4%), Brazil (+5.7%), and Chile (+3.8%). Andina cited the BCRP as saying that Peru’s strong performance “was principally driven by greater dynamism in agricultural and livestock exports, particularly fruits, as well as the textiles, chemical, and iron and steel sectors”.
