Mexican federal forces arrested Jesús Corona Damián, the sitting mayor of Cuautla municipality in Mexico’s south-central state of Morelos, on charges of organised crime on 30 May. The federal public security minister, Omar García Harfuch, confirmed the arrest via his official social media account, stating that it had been made after the federal attorney general’s office (FGR) issued an arrest warrant earlier in May. Corona Damián, who had been a fugitive for 10 days, was located in the Costa Azul neighbourhood of Acapulco, in neighbouring Guerrero state, where a short firearm was found on his person.End of preview - This article contains approximately 341 words.
