MEXICO: Teachers double down on protests as World Cup starts

Mexico’s Coordinadora Nacional de Trabajadores de la Educación (CNTE) teachers’ union has stated that it will continue its national strike action, calling for more protests across the country. The CNTE began its strike on 1 June, calling for wage increases, the repeal of a 2007 pension law and other education reforms, and the ending of a performance management system governing pay and promotion.
