BRAZIL: Gov’t leader in the senate steps down amid corruption probe

On 24 June Brazilian senator Jaques Wagner, a former governor of Bahia state (2007-2015) and a prominent figure in the ruling left-wing Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), announced he will step down from his role as the leader of the governing coalition in the senate days after being implicated in an ongoing corruption investigation.
