*Argentina’s central bank (BCRA) and the central bank of China have agreed to extend a bilateral currency swap agreement for ¥130bn (US$19.3bn). According to a BCRA press release, the agreement has been extended from three to five years, and a portion of the swap deal for ¥35bn which
was activated in 2023 will remain in effect. The BCRA hailed the extension of the agreement as a move that
“reinforces the close cooperation between the two institutions and the excellent relationship they have maintained over the 17 years since the first agreement was signed in 2009”.
