De la Espriella confronts immediate crisis

Colombia suffered its deadliest earthquake since 1999 on 10 August, presenting new President Abelardo de la Espriella with a major crisis just three days after he took office. The disaster has taken attention away from De la Espriella’s first moves, with the new far-right leader having signalled major changes on issues including security policy, coca eradication, healthcare reform, and energy.
