In brief: China sends more rice to Cuba
*China’s ambassador to Cuba, Hua Xin, has announced that China has delivered a shipment of 15,000 tonnes (t) of rice to Cuba, the third shipment of an expected 60,000 t from Beijing. This is the latest sign of cooperation from China as Cuba is facing a humanitarian crisis stemming from the maximum pressure campaign on the island applied by the US administration led by President Donald Trump. China has fast emerged as a crucial ally for Havana, also in areas such as renewable energy.
