VENEZUELA: Clash over political prisoners
Following the first round of negotiations with the opposition from 6-12 August, in an apparent show of goodwill Venezuela’s government announced the release of 131 prisoners on 14 August. As was the case following previous such announcements, there is confusion over the actual number of prisoners who have been released.
