BRAZIL | Current-account deficit widens. The central bank (BCB) released the balance of payments figures on 27 August which showed a current-account deficit of US$8.1bn in July. This is up from the deficit of US$6.9bn in July 2025. For the 12 months through July 2026, the accumulated annual deficit stood at US$62.9bn (2.49% of GDP), up from US$61.7bn the month before but down from US$75.9bn in July last year.
