*Colombia’s Vice President
José Manuel Restrepo has presented the government’s investment plan ‘Misión Crecer’ to investors in New York, where he is due to represent Colombia at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), which is taking place from 22-28 September. This is part of the government’s economic strategy which seeks to accelerate investment, raise productivity, and recover the country’s economic growth capacity, with the target of raising GDP growth to 6%. In a social media post Restrepo said that he had presented investment opportunities in Colombia in the areas of energy, tourism, critical minerals, and artificial intelligence before over 60 investors following meetings with the US think tank Americas Society/Council of the Americas (AS/COA), global affairs forum Concordia, the World Economic Forum, the Inter-American Development Bank, and business leaders. He said he had also had a meeting with the Dominican Republic’s president,
Luis Abinader.
