MEXICO: Bill seeks to ban dual nationality for top officials
Mexico’s lower chamber of congress has approved a bill that would prevent those with dual nationality from running for president, state governor, or Mexico City (CDMX) mayor. President Claudia Sheinbaum and the ruling left-wing Movimiento Regeneración Nacional (Morena) have presented the reform as a way of protecting Mexican sovereignty and ensuring that the national interest takes precedence over any other allegiance.
