PARAGUAY: Students demand tough anticrime action

Students in Asunción , not renowned for their law-and-order stances, turned out in their thousands on 4 June - in a scene reminiscent of recent events in neighbouring Argentina - to demand more decisive action by the authorities against violent crime. Legislators who tried to piggyback on the demonstration were greeted with jeers, catcalls and acid criticism.
