President Lula da Silva sacked Marcelo Resende, the president of the land reform agency, Incra, earlier this month. Resende was widely seen as supportive of the Movimento dos Sem-Terra (MST), especially as he refused to condemn recent MST land invasions. His replacement is Ralf Hackbart, an economist.
