Throughout April, delegates of various factions of the ruling Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT) held different conventions to discuss their support for the government's policies. These conventions confirmed that the rift in the PT is growing. With an increasingly hostile congress and a weakening grip on other allied parties, the PT's lack of unity is causing more difficulties for the government.
