The top commander of Chile's troop contingent in Haiti, General Eduardo Aldunate Herman, has refuted claims by Carmen Soria, the daughter of a Spanish diplomat murdered in Chile in 1976, that he was involved in the Spaniard's death. On 11 October Soria, and her lawyer Alfonso Insunza, filed a suit against Aldunate with judge Alejandro Madrid, who is investigating a number of human rights violation cases. The lawsuit is based on the 1993 testimony of Pablo Labarca Sanhueza, a former member of Dina, the Pinochet-era secret police, who identified Aldunate as a member of the "Mulchén" brigade of Dina, responsible for killing
