ARGENTINA: Peronism refounded

Early this month, former opposition presidential candidate and dissident Peronist Roberto Lavagna announced his decision to join forces with ex president Néstor Kirchner to reorganise the ruling Partido Justicialista (PJ). While the opposition poured scorn on Lavagna's decision, the move points to a re-fortification of the ruling party - as well as boosting Kirchner's chances of winning the PJ leadership elections in March.
