On 7 August Brazil's state oil company Petrobras announced fresh oil discoveries. Following a flurry of new offshore discoveries since late last year, Brazil is well on its way to becoming a major oil producer. The question now is whether there will be pressure on the government to change the rules of engagement for future exploration and development contracts.
