Enrí­quez-Ominami shakes up Chile's presidential race

A dissident socialist deputy, Marco Antonio Enrí­quez-Ominami, surged past Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, the presidential candidate of the ruling centre-left Concertación alliance, in an opinion poll published on 2 June. Although Enrí­quez Ominami is still behind the front-runner, Sebastián Piñera, of the rightwing Coalición por el Cambio, he is the candidate who is shaping the campaign for the 13 December vote.
