ECONOMY: Brazil - Argentina's No.1 foreign investor

Just a few weeks after President Dilma Rousseff, on her first foreign trip, was received with open arms in Buenos Aires by Cristina Fernández with lofty mutual promises to forge “extremely close links",   the Argentine trade ministry announced a new round of import restrictions, affecting goods from Mercosur and notably also Asia. Conscious of the damaging political impact in São Paulo and Brasí­lia, Argentina's industry minister Débora Giorgi hastily agreed with her Brazilian counterpart Fernando Pimentel a 'monitoring committee' to exclude Brazilian products from the latest measures. However, patience in Brazil with Argentina is wearing thin.
