Rumours emerge of Gutiérrez's 'terror network'

Following Gutiérrez's departure for Brazil, a number of surprising, though plausible, revelations have come to light. The latest story doing the rounds of the local media is that the Gutiérrez administration created a network of repression and terror directed against political opponents, trade unionists and journalists. Although the story may appear a little far-fetched, it befits the strangely febrile atmosphere of the country over the past few months, during which bombs were thrown, government ministers kidnapped and opposition legislators beaten up; all in mysterious circumstances.
