Tracking trends

FINANCE | Savings at record high. Mexico's financial savings have reached a record high equivalent to 50% of GDP, the Asociación de Bancos de México (ABM) reports. Between December 1996 and June 2004, it says, aggregate financial savings have increased by 68% to M$3,700bn (US$324.7bn). Of this total, 89% is intermediated by ABM members.
