COSTA RICA: Third ex-President accused of shady dealings

José Marí­a Figueres last week became the third former President of Costa Rica to be caught up in corruption allegations, after being accused of having received money from the French firm Alcatel. Figueres, who served as President from 1994 to 1998, has resigned his position as executive director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), while at home the public prosecution service is looking into the allegations.
