MEXICO: Bejarano loses immunity, points to plot

The corruption videos saga has taken a big step forward with the decision by an overwhelming majority of the federal chamber of deputies to lift the parliamentary immunity of René Bejarano, the congressman of the leftist Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) who was taped taking a bribe from Argentine businessman Carlos Ahumada. Bejarano, who now faces a trial that could land him in prison for up to 15 years, is fighting back, filing an accusation against former President Carlos Salinas and former PRD president Rosario Robles.
