URUGUAY: Vázquez forges links with Colorados and Church

President-elect Tabaré Vázquez has moved on from securing his internal front to ensuring additional support in congress by appointing several prominent Colorados to key government positions. He has also been building bridges with the Catholic Church by adopting a 'pro-life' stance - which could well trigger his first confrontation with the left wing of his Frente Amplio coalition, committed to having a second go at passing a law legalising abortion.
