HAITI: As violence continues, UN ponders reinforcements

Minustah suffered its third fatality of the year last week as a UN Security Council mission was visiting Haiti to assess progress towards elections between October and December. With shootouts continuing in Cité Soleil, the Council mission left Haiti pondering whether to increase the strength of Minustah. Meanwhile in Miami interim prime minister Gérard Latortue considered a plan for security and development assistance from the state of Florida.
