Banking in Colombia
The country's most powerful financial conglomerate, Grupo Aval, is beginning to make some moves. The conglomerate is controlled by Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo. What is unusual is that his recent moves have been political, as well as in business. Grupo Aval is Colombia's biggest tax payer and controls 25% of the country's banking and financial services market.
