VENEZUELA: Still growing strongly

The demand side of the economy is picking up. GDP growth in the first quarter of the year was 7.9%, the central bank reported. Several industries are beginning to bet that the recovery will continue for a good while longer. With international oil prices over US$55 again, in mid June, the government's scope for forcing the economic pace is considerable.
