NICARAGUA: IMF programme delayed

The finance minister, Mario Arana, and the president of the central bank, Mario Alonso, went to see the IMF in Washington in mid-June to ask for a further delay in the sorting out of a new agreement. The two Marios said that the country would be unable to meet the initial deadline of August: they would like the new agreement to be ready for the IMF's board by December this year.
