What Slim is doing in Colombia
Carlos Slim, Latin America's richest businessman, with a fortune of around US$25bn, has moved into Colombian telecoms and prompted a shake up in the market. What Slim is doing is far from clear, though he has plenty of options. His initial interest was in going into partnership with the troubled national telecoms company, Telecom. Immediately other players lobbied him to buy them out.
