Cepal issues warning about remittances

The UN's Comisión Económica para América Latina issued a warning on 22 August over strong commodity prices and the rising tide of remittances flowing towards the region. Cepal argued that although the inflow of dollars buttressed the region against external economic shocks, it has also led to a revaluation of the region's currencies. This is having an effect of the region's competitiveness.
