PARAGUAY: Income tax introduced

The government passed a decree which will for the first time make Paraguayans eligible for income tax. The government reckons that around 8,000 people will have to pay the tax in 2006. Previously the government has financed the social security system by levying a 9.5% tax on all those in formal employment.
