López Obrador and the economy

Although his opponents claim that the long time frontrunner for the presidential elections, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, is faltering, an average of all the opinion polls published in March and April shows that he is still ahead. The assumption among Mexican commentators is now that López Obrador is still likely to win, but his closest rival, Felipe Calderón, now has a chance of snatching victory. The election is on 2 July.
