PERU: Exports up

The best performing part of the economy in 2005 was the energy industry which increased output by 23.5%, thanks to the work on the pipeline that is bringing gas from Camisea to Lima. The mining industry also had a good year, increasing its output by 7.4%, up from 5.3% in 2004. In February 2006, however, the overall growth rate slowed sharply.
