Sugar: Cuba said that it had produced 700,000t of sugar by the end of March. It is hoping to produce around 1m t before ending the harvest probably in April, but possibly in May. The country is using 42 mills. The initial target for the harvest was between 1.3m t and 1.5m t. In 2004/05, the industry harvest its smallest crop since records began 1.3m t. This year's crop is unlikely to be much bigger.
