PERU: Garcí­a aims to spend US$18bn in 2007

The government sent the budget for 2007 to congress on 6 September. The 2007 budget is 12% bigger than the 2006 budget. The government is budgeting on export revenues coming to US$24bn in 2007 and imports costing US$17.27bn. This will provide the country with a trade surplus of around 7% of GDP, the prime minister, Jorge del Castillo, said. The government is budgeting on GDP coming to around US$96bn in 2007. GDP in May 2006 was US$78bn.
