NICARAGUA: Fishing boom

The country's fishing and seafood industry is on a roll. Consumption of seafood has doubled in the past six years to 2kg per head per year and exports of seafood, led by shellfish, is likely to top US$120m this year. That will be equivalent to 15% of total exports. According to the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization, average fish consumption in the world is 16kg per head per year.
