BOLIVIA: Beating expectations

In the first half of the year the economy grew by 4.5%, significantly above the government's forecast of 4.1%. The finance ministry gave several reasons for the faster rate of growth: more exports; a construction boom; a surge in the demand for electricity and an increase in hydrocarbon and metal production.
