PANAMA: New car sales boom

The economy is doing rather well, both macro-economically and micro-economically. In 2006 inflation was just 2.2%, while growth was strong (up 8.6% year-on-year in the third quarter) and unemployment fell. The number of people working in the informal economy is also falling. On official figures, only 46% of all employed people work in the informal economy.
