YPFB changes in Bolivia

On 23 March President Evo Morales removed Manuel Morales Olivera from his position as head of the state-owned oil company Yacimientos Petrolí­feros Fiscales Bolivianos (YPFB) after only two months in the job, and appointed Guillermo Aruquipa as his successor. YPFB has now had four presidents in the past 14 months. Morales Olivera was an unpopular choice because of his lack of expertise in the hydrocarbons sector and became controversial when the chaotic state of the 44 contracts agreed with foreign energy companies was revealed.
