GUATEMALA: Junta Monetaria raises rates

The Junta said that it was raising rates in order to hit the inflation target of 5% plus or minus 1% by the end of 2007. In 2005, the Junta raised interest rates seven times. In 2006 the Junta raised rates three times. In 2006, inflation was 5.79%, just inside the target of 6% plus or minus 1%.
